Each month, WAC
will host a dinner at a new ethnic restaurant in the Midlands. This
program will encourage social interaction between members, staff
and the board. Please join us for good food, company and cuisine
while enjoying spectacular traditional dishes.
"Humanitarian
World Outreach" Program
WAC will host
speakers from different humanitarian outreach programs in order
to provide the Columbia community with information on how the can
contribute on the international level.
Young
Professionals
WAC is excited
to invite you to our newest program. The Young Professionals Program
brings together internationally minded individuals (21-40) to promote
a greater awareness and appreciation of international issues and
their relevance to our community.
"Distinguished
Speaker" Series
Luncheons and
dinners featuring distinguished international experts and policymakers
speaking on current issues with opportunity for discussion.
"International Book Club "
This program helps our members know more about the international community by exploring the works of foreign authors and foreign-themed books. By exposing current issues in international life through literature, we hope that our members will be inspired to become more involved in the international community at home. "The
Global Vision Award"
A prestigious annual award presented to the individual, organization or business
that has demonstrated a vision toward the advancement of international
affairs in South Carolina. The recipient is honored at an annual black
tie dinner.
"Global Connections Reception" Series
Receptions featuring international organizations, groups or individuals that
create global connections for South Carolina in the areas of trade, politics
and culture.
Conversation/Interest Groups
Fun, informal forums where individuals meet twice a month to converse in a
particular foreign language. Current groups include Spanish, French, German,
Italian, Chinese, Russian, Japanese, Arabic, and English as a second language. Learn more.
Sister Cities of Columbia
A program dedicated
to furthering global understanding among the citizens of Columbia
by encouraging and assisting the City and its citizens to link with similar
communities around the world. The goal is for the communities involved to learn
more about each other and develop lasting and meaningful exchanges in the fields
of business, education, medicine, religion and culture.
"Happy Hour" Series
This program was started as a way to promote interest in WAC and has turned into a beneficial networking hour among our members. This program not only lets our members get to know each other but our staff as well.
"International Film Night "
This program has been intitated to open our members minds to the foreign film industy which seperates itself from Hollywood by focusing on more real life issues present in the country of it origin. |
