This conference with nationally-known scholars and policy-makers investigates the various futures possible in the Middle East through the coming decade.

Rudolph C. Barnes, Sr. Symposium
Beginning Friday, February 2nd and extending through Saturday, February 3rd, there will be a discussion on International Law issues during the Barnes Symposium. A wide variety of interesting topics will be covered, all centering around legitimacy, legal development, and change. World Affairs Council Members are invited to attend the seminar. The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble

Distinguished Speaker Series:
Ambassador Edward O'Donnell
On Tuesday, February 20th from 12:00PM to 2:00PM at the Summit Club, Ambassador Edward O'Donnell will be speaking about U.S. Policy and Latin America. The lecture will include a luncheon and attendees will need to register online before arriving.
Ambassador O'Donnell served as the Special Envoy for Holocaust Issue for the U.S. Department of State from 2003 to 2006. While in office, O'Donnell dedicated his service to Holocaust survivors, implementing new programs, and working with foreign governments. Currently, he travels and speaks to others about the effects of the Holocaust and what is being done to oppose anti-Semitism. Further biographical information can be found at :

Ambassador Edward O'Donnell
In conjunction with his speech at the Summit Club, Ambassador O'Donnell will give another presentation at the University of South Carolina on Wednesday, February 21st. He will be speaking about the Holocaust and its implications for today's World in a presentation titled "Reality of the Holocaust - 21st Century Diplomatic Perspective".

International Book Club:
The God of Small Things
An interesting discussion on The God of Small Things will be held on Tuesday, February 27th at 7:00PM. This well received work of fiction is about twin Indian children and the obstacles they face daily. It possesses vivid poetic language and powerful imagery. Arundhati Roy, the award-winning author, comments, "it isn't a book about India...it is a book about human nature."
